3 Easy Steps to Achieve a Perm Rod Set on Locs

Welcome back to the blog, today I’m sharing one of my favorite loc styles since I’ve reached my two year loc anniversary. If you’re interested in a low maintenance loc style that includes bouncy curls, keep reading!

Check out the video on how I achieved the look or keep reading.

Retightened my locs

I used the four point rotation to retighten my locs. If you’re not familiar with what that is then you can check out this video. There are multiple ways to maintain locs so be sure to figure out what works best for your hair. It is best to retighten your hair when it’s clean of any products/freshly washed.

Moisturized my locs

After retightening my hair I moisturized it using water, graspeseed oil and Jamaican black castor oil. I made sure my hair was damp first and added the grape seed oil, making sure to squeeze it into my locs and making sure I got the ends as well. I finished with the Jamaican black castor oil and got ready to style my locs.

Adding the perm rods to my locs

I used grey perm rods and began applying the rods in the back and worked my way up to the front sides and then the middle. I let my hair dry for 24 hours and removed the rods, opposite of how I put them in.

Once I was done removing the rods I separated the curls and ran my fingers lightly through it. I let the style naturally drop as time passed. By the end of the day they weren’t as tight and began to drop a little.

I am very satisfied with the results and they lasted over a week. Have you tried perm rods on your locs yet?
